There is no cure for Endometriosis, but there are things you can to do help, ranging from surgical intervention to alternative therapies to diet to hormonal treatments. Of all the options, excision surgery by an Endo expert is the best bet. For more detail on excision, please see www.centerforendo.com and www.endometriosistreatment.org. Talk to others who truly understand and can help guide you through the process by checking out http://groups.yahoo.com/group/erc and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ERCGirlTalk...you are definately not alone and there is much authoritative info and support to be had there. Good luck.

Endometriosis is when, during the time when the lining of you uterus sheds, it also sheds on the outside of the uterus also. Now when you get your period you bleed out and it exits the body. However with this shedding occuring on the outside of your uterus, that blood only falls into your body and does not exit. Sometimes its reabsorbed into other organs like the intestinal tract or the bladder, and sometimes this excess blood collects and cysts can form in and around the uterus. Sometimes this condition causes more pain with periods, and sometimes nothing changes at all except the forming of cysts and the reabsorption.

There are 4 different levels of endometriosis, depending on how heavy the internal shedding is and how much pain is associated with the period.

I am a woman living with level 3 endometriosis. You'll be okay if you just keep your visits current with your Gyno and make sure to tell him or her everything going on with your period. You may have a higher level of endometriosis than you first thought, so go get htat checked out. There isn't much you can do to stop the clotting on your own, but birth control may help you out if you're not already on it.

Good luck.

It does tend to spread and get worse with time.. you start to scar.. etc..
You can stop it by getting a hysterectomy
That probably isn't an option at 18 years young, so I suggest going to the OBGYN and getting birth control pills, endometrial ablation therapy, etc...
This will help maintain fertility and help with the pain.

go to the emergency if it is too much and you cant get an appt with your gyn. if you can he or she needs to prescribe you some sort of estrogen or progesterone pill. if too much blood is lost even some iron. that is nothing to play with. the only thing you can do to stop it is go to the doctor immediately.good luck
