I use Lava Soft's Ad-Aware and it recently detected a trojan horse w/ a rating of 10, which I removed immediately after my scan. Am I still in danger? Please help. Thanks.

You should use a program like "windows defender" , which you can download if you are using a licensed copy of windowsXP. It works as an antispy and as a firewall, and it has a software explorer function, which tells you what are the programs running on your computer and to which company they belong to, then you can detect any unidentified software, and block,or remove it.

Hate to say this, but most of these programs don't even get rid of any of the things infecting your system. Pretty much what they do is disable it, or cut it off, and to really get it off your system you have to go in manually to remove all the little bits from your registry, which I would not recommend because you can really do more harm to your system if you don't know what you're doing.

I had the Blaster Worm on my system, which later crashed because I got a different virus on it. So I actually completely reformatted, reinstalled Windows, logged online to get all the latest updates and the Blaster Worm had reinfected my computer. The code to disable the worm, which I downloaded from Microsoft, was erased when I reformated, but the worm wasn't, so it was reactivated.

But with all that said, once the virus, trojan, worm, whatever is broken, it's pretty much malign and you don't have to worry about it. I just find it annoying that it's technically still on your system, but disabled so it can't do you any harm.

Best thing to do is put up a good firewall to protect your computer from ever getting infected in the first place.

No. If u have removed the trojan, well and good. No more danger from that trojan. But watch out for others.

If it removed it then it's ok for now. Sometimes if you run the scan again as soon as it's done it's back in there again so it's good to use more than one program to scan with. Try some of these:
