I was a waitress for 3 years, and I've learned, some people are just jerks. They don't realize that the cooks and the servers have NOTHING to do with each other. The cooks cook and the servers serve. We mingle in the kitchen and that's that. All I can tell you is to grin and bare it. Getting stiffed for a tip is completely worth it when you have a party of 4 and get a $75 tip! Just smile and remember, someone will come in who tips well! Best of luck!

That's the hazard of working in an establishment that puts out bad food. People look for good food the same as good service. It goes hand in hand, Sadly for you. I know this all to well as my own family is in the food and service industry. I personally try to separate these two things and take care of the server if they were good regardless of the bad food. BUT, I've been "the server" so I know the difference. fortunately my families business puts out a good product consistently, that helps a lot.

Because consumers don't understand that you tip for the service, mostly. When you get bad food or service, you tell the manager. If you don't speak up it won't get fixed. My X works in the restaurant industry, he used to complain all the time. Hang in there, I always remember to tip my server well!

I think when you go to a restaurant, you expect excellent service and food.
and if one or the other doesnt match up, then the whole thing goes down the drain! leading to a bad tip...,

so I would suggest work at a restaurant where cooks know how to cook or bring it upon yourself to make sure everything is okay b4 u serve it and I guarantee your tips will double,,,or triple

#1 - some people will take any excuse to be cheap

#2 - some people are too stupid to realize it wasn't your fault

#3 - some people think they are sending a strong message,

But this message goes completely unheard by anybody capable of making a correction or compensating them for their troubles.

If you have a problem as a customer, talk to the well-paid manager that gets paid for making sure things are well run... don't take it out on the person that did her job to 100% of her ability and still got less than minimum wage.

Because some people are simply destined to be miserable idiots who have nothing better to do than blame others for whatever is wrong in their pathetic little lives. I've noticed that most of those people are usually unattractive, also... perhaps another reason to be pissy. I rest easier knowing that in all likelihood, there is a special place in Hell for people who stiff their waitstaff.

They see you as a whole. Any service from when they walk in the door to when they leave, they associate everyone as one. That is there way of telling you they had a bad experience

A. they were looking for a reason to be cheap, any reason at all.

B. you're working for the wrong restaurant.. I spent years waitressing. I decided real quick it wasn't worth it to work at a dump! They don't pay enough to make you have to deal with a high percentage of unhappy customers!
