Go to the automotive section and ask for engine degreaser. it works well if you don';t want to do the dry cleaners thing. it's basically what they use.
first try alcohol, or shaving cream. If it was grease cat liter would remove it as that is all cat liter is a clay absorbent.

First, determine what caused the stain.
Second, look at the tag to see what the fabric is made of.
Third, find a stain removal chart on the 'net'. A good one is Fabric Links Stain Removal Guide.
Fourth, If it is washable fabric try the advice it gives.
Fifth, if it is not washable fabric, take it to a drycleaner. Point out the stain and tell them what caused it.
Sixth, if the stain cannot be removed, get rid of the dress so it will not make you feel so horrible every time you look at it. Maybe you could cover it up somehow, depending on where it is located. Good Luck. I hate when that happens, too!

Try that Tide stick, stain remover, looks like a magic marker. It's a little red label, takes everything off, is not bleach!

Try pre-washing it with a little bit of dish-washing liquid and cold water or SHOUT. Then wash it cold in regular detergent. That has worked on a number of tough stains in my laundry. Good Luck!!

Tide to Go. It looks like a marker and it's amazing. I got pizza sauce on my white tux shirt and it took it out in 3 minutes. You couldnt even tell where it hit my shirt.
