For most men, their testosterone levels increase as they get older.
Testosterone is the male sex hormone and different parts of the body respond to it in different ways. It is also an anabolic steroid.
Testosterone changes into 'dihydrotestosterone' or DHT. This DHT then alters the way head hair develops, shrinking the follicles.
This process is called follicular miniaturisation, where the head hair shaft width is progressively decreased until scalp hair resembles fragile vellus hair or "peach fuzz" or else becomes non-existent.
Other parts of the body react differently to testosterone and DHT. For example, it is testosterone that causes body hair in other places, like the chest and back, to start growing in males.
That's why as men get older, and their testosterone levels slowly increase, their hair gets thinner on their head but thicker on their backs and chest.
I hope that clears things up for you,
froggie

It's all related to Testosterone levels in the body. It's a paradox. The follicles in the head don't respond to high levels and die. But the body hair grows much more with elevated levels of Testosterone....
This also could be the reason why many women find bald men attractive, because hormonally they have more Testosterone than Flaxen Haired men!

Alot of it has to do with their genes in their family. Everyone in my father's side of the family has this problem. Everyone on my mother's side has a full head of hair, I've heard that you inheir your mother's genes so if thats the case I wount have to worry about going bald. On the bad side though, I still worry about the excessive hair that your talking about cause I think both sides of the genes are doing the work.

If y'all find out - let me know, so I can reverse the process - oh you forgot to mention hair inside the ears (itches like hell) & outside of the nose, tops of feet backs of hands & fingers.
Don't say it's gross - ain't nuthin I can do about it. I did Nair for men on the backs of my hands & fungers & it lasted all of about 3-4 days. Tops of the feet it lasted maybe 10 days.
