you need to continue to use the gel evewn with your period, if you stop the gel there could be a chance that the infection will not clear up. Your period will be discolored because of the gel and due to the infection. But it is very important you do not stop the gel or you will have to take another trip to the clinic and maybe have to be put on something else. You always want to finish a perscription to clear up what ever infection you have. There is a problem right on because people do not finish because they start to feel better and think they can save the rest for later but that causes the infection to become inflamed again and people are becoming immune to some medication because of doing this. For your saftly always finish unless your doctor tell you differant. The infection you have will be messy right now but it won't last long and then the medication will have had the full length of time to work.

this should have been a question for your doctor. I had a vaginal bacteria before and my doctor ordered Flagyl pill and Flagyl vag cream. I took the pills for the 7 days but after my period was done, then I inserted the cream.

I am a bit concerned because if you are menstruating, the gel is not gonna stay in the vagina anyways so the bacteria is not gonna clear. So talk to your doctor again or even the pharmacist. Call the pharmacist tomorrow and he'll tell if you need to talk to your doctor.

Keep using the gel but also keep going back to the clinic regularly...even after you feel better. It;s important to keep getting checked. Good luck.

I'm in Nursing school and the appropriate thing to do is to continue using it to prevent recurrance of the infection. Continue the use of the medication.
