I know what you mean. I don't go at all unless I'm bored out of my mind and can't think of a single thing to do. Most of the people I want to talk to are on my IM, so I don't have to put up with that perverted mess most of the time.

I've never tried a chat room. I anticipated the problems you mention and more, so why bother? A guy across the hall from me found his wife in one I think. Guess how long the marriage lasted. She flirted with me and many other men. Her body odor nearly knocked me down.

I've always hated chat rooms. In my experiences there are kids in there yelling, fighting, or just typing something stupid.
