Depends a little on the child. Cribs can be adapted to toddlers for quite a while. Eventually they will want more freedom than a crib will allow.
You can sort of see what the child is ready for. Biggest problem at first will be that kids can fall out of bed. You might want to include a partial guardrail at first.

Age 2-3. It depends on how mobile they are. My son just turned 2 last month and we will be switching him soon. He can't climb out yet as we have the matress on the lowest setting, but if the rail is down, like when we are putting him in there, he tried to put his leg up on top. Also, to save money in the long run, you can just get a twin bed instead of buying a toddler bed and then having to buy a bigger bed later. I have a rail for the twin bed that just slips under the mattress.

as quickly as she would manage to climb out of the crib it rather is surely time for a infant mattress. A crib may be risky for an adventurous infant. it rather is a lots longer fall from the crib rail to the floor than the mattress to the floor. i'm uncertain if she would manage to try this yet, yet I actual have 3 nieces who all ought to try this with the help of twelve months, and that i plan on it being an identical with my 5 month previous daughter.

How ironic,
I was at my daughters 1 year well child health check up today and we discussed this very thing. Her pediatrician suggested 3 years old or if she starts climbing out of her crib sooner and at that time. If your unsure check with your pediatrician.
I have a feeling its going to be alot sooner then my daughters third birthday for us, she is a little money!

my son just started to sleep in his and he is 1 and a half but we put cable in his room so he has cartoons playing for about an hour after i but he in his bed. well the main thing is that they should be able to put themselfs to sleep. now my son did get up and cry at his door and all i had to do was pick him up explain that it was bed time and he had to lay in his big boy bed. i laied him down again and never worried about it again. but i put his bed next to the wall then put his old crib on the other side so he felt somewhat like he was in his old bed. now he wont even leave his room except to eat lol. but i wish you good luck!

Sam, my oldest who is now 10 got his first "big boy" bed when he was 3. Rhett, who is now 7 got his at 3 but wanted to stay in his crib until he was 4, why??? We think it was because we had just moved into our new home & he just felt more secure at first. Heath, who is now 5 started sleeping in his at almost 3 yrs.

Tonight...wah wah !! :) hehe
I was gung ho on keeping my son in his crib as long as i could. He just turned two last month and had his first fall trying to climb out. He's ok, but he had a bad fright.
I was tempted to leave him in the crib, but I figured I might not be so lucky the next time.
In my case, two years old...but I'd keep em in as long as I could...at least u always know where they are.. :)
