Try using a highlight marker and writing notes or drawing sketches on the margins that summarize what you're reading.

Try making connections as you read to relate to the text, like things in your own life that are related to the text, and write a word on the margin about that.

After each chapter think of something that you wonder about what you just read. Something that wasn't answered by the text, and take note of that.

Try sitting on a rocking chair, so that you're moving while you read.

Take frequent breaks. Set yourself a goal, like reading through one chapter, or two pages, or whatever, and then getting a snack.

Check your vision to make sure you're not getting headaches because you're forcing your eyes.

Make sure you don't have ADD.

Good luck!

Hello,

Yes, after a time my mind starts to wander when I read. I will continue to turn the pages but then realize I have read nothing.

When this happens, I have to take a break and get away from the book for about 15 minutes. For me, it feels good to wash my face and brush my teeth. Refreshed, I go back to reading the book.

You won't know until you try it.

Yeah I often zone out when I've been reading for a while. But I notice that my eyes are still moving through the words, even though I am thinking about something else. Who says you can't do two things at once?

I agree w/ the index finger. Also, read in peace. I know its hard, but no tv, radio, dont lie down either. And stay away from caffeine and no more headaches.

If you use your index finger to follow along while you read it will help your brain to concentrate easier and for a longer period of time. It also helps with comprehension
