your new fixture must have two bulbs each black wire and white wire come from one of these bulbs. normally both blacks go together with the black from the ceiling and the whites go together with whites. the copper ground should connect to the metal box at the ceiling under one of the screws.

Ground cable are optional. It means, you may or may not use it. If you wish to use, it can be connected in an earth ground by extending the wire through the ceiling and connect it to any steel rod from the beam or column of the structure. Then follow the color coded connections. The purpose of having a grounded wire is, in case of short circuit, the current will be absorb by the ground (earth) instead of human, which is a safety precautions.

Connect the 2 black wires to the one black and the two white to the one white. If you don't have a ground wire there isn't much you can do but just coil it up or cut it off. You need a metal frame or wire to attach it to.

you leave the grounding wire not connected. the only thing is, if its a ceiling fan, it may shock you when you touch the on/off pull cord (like a static electricity shock, not a huge electrical one). also, it should have came with wire nuts. turn off the circuit, attach the two white wires to one white wire in your ceiling and and the two black wires to the black one. The wire nuts are easy to use if you don't know how, just twist the wires and put them in the nut and twist the nut around the wires till they stay together. i learned how to install a ceiling fan just by following the directions in the box, its quite simple once you get the hang of it.

Turn off the breaker or remove the fuse, match the colors (black to black, white to white) and coil the ground wire out of the way in the box. Tape or cap off the ends, secure your light fixture, and flip the breaker back on to test it. Good luck!

Connect whites to whites, blacks to blacks, and either let the ground dangle or sometimes there is a screw in the box you can connect it to.
