Who know about the 20 Million Mexican Natives that were killed by White People?

I have recently learned that 20 Million Mexicans were killed by white people in the 1500's. Does anyone know about this?

Well, indeed it was a horrible genocide done by white colonizers to the indians in the Americas, which includes all the Latinamerican countries. This is not very much talked about on the textbooks or schools because the curriculum is totally biased and controlled by the dominant conservative society. The worse thing is that white colonization is still taking place in this country, when people of color are forced to abandon their culture, language, values to conform to the white supermacy. The sad thing is that at the end, they continue to be people of color, not whites. Therefore they continue to be excluded from the privileges of the dominant culture in a system that sets them for failure. Our job is now to continue the fight for decolonization, social justice, and consciousness.

Would you be talking about Native Central Americans? As Spain hadn't colonized Mexico in the 1500s there were not Mexicans. And the Conquestadors killed millions of the indigenous peoples of Central America however they were no more white than modern Mexicans. In fact they were of the same race as the forefathers of the Mexican People. So more to the point Mexicans Killed 20 Million Natives, white people were busy trying to hide from Indians back then.

The Aztec population was not 20 millions in 1492. Think with common sense and you will see that it is just an exaggeration. To be fair, do you know how many people did the Aztecs killed in 100 years? They massacred millions of non-Aztecs, specially to the south of Mexico into what is now Guatemala and El Salvador (pipil population). It is a matter of powerful killing the weak.

There were many native people that were killed by smallpox and other diseases when Europeans got to the Americans.

20 million in Mexico can't be right, because there was no Mexico at the time. BUT a lot of people died for no good reason. It happened due to greed and ignorance. There is nothing you can do about it today, though. Just don't let it happen again.

Not white people and mexicans. They were ancient conquerers and indian peoples. And in the light of history it was terrible.
At the time, It was terrible too. The point is to not let it happen again.

Well, the term "Mexican" is inaccurate, since the nation of Mexico didn't exist at the time. When the Spanish arrived in the New World, what is now Mexico was inhabited by the Aztecs. They weren't exactly pacifists themselves (they were known for cutting the hearts out of living victims for religious sacrifices), but they were no match for the more technically advanced Spanish.

More importantly, unlike the Spanish, they hadn't developed a natural resistence to the new germs that the Spanish invaders carried in their systems. New diseases swept across the New World, wiping out about 3 million Aztecs.

The 20 million number is too high, since there were only 15 million Aztecs living in Mexico at the time. But the number of natives who died in all of the Latin American countries after the Spanish conquests may have been close to that number.

Also, the Spanish didn't do it alone. The Aztecs had local (Indian) enemies who were glad to help the Spanish defeat them. About 100,000 locals allied themselves with the Spanish in the last major battle that defeated the Aztecs.

Next came slavery. We hear a lot about American slavery, but the truth is that the Americans couldn't hold a candle to the Spanish, who tended to work their slaves to death. (In fact, that's why they started importing black slaves from Africa - they were running out of locals for their Caribbean sugar plantations). And then they taught the Americans their nasty trade. It wasn't just in Mexico, but throughout all of what we now call Latin America.

But if you're Mexican, don't be too quick to take sides. Most Mexicans today are meztisos (about 60%), people who are half white and half Indian. Only 30% of the population is Indian, and only 10% is white. If you're a typical Mexican, it was your own ancestors who butchered your other ancestors...

Angela W I know about what happened in the soviet especially the Ukrainian Famine. I'm proud to be part Ukrainian and I know the history. I wish that they would print about that in text books instead of the holocaust.

Its not that only happened to mexicans. you call us sick people but most of us don't even know about what happened back then. you know in the soviet union MILLIONS of orthodox christians were killed by the communists.no one knows about that either.So Don't get angry and prejudice over somthing that some people can't control.
