There are many, many countries that are not safe.
There are several countries that are safe, but not free.
There are almost no countries that are free*.

Can anyone tell me why people should try to sacrifice the freedom in this country for safety? Why shouldn't these security-lovers just move to any of the dozens and dozens of places in the world where security reigns?
Where will freedom lovers go if the security-lovers have their way HERE?

*(Notice how these FEW free countries tend to be pretty safe, too, because people know that each individual takes charge of his own safety?
That's why Japan didn't invade the U.S. on the ground during WWII, because every citizen is SUPPOSED TO BE free to arm himself! Invaders and terrorists and thugs, they don't mess around with populi in armis!)

"Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither" -Ben Franklin.

Quite frankly I'm ready for a new locale. I love freedom and I'd like to move somewhere where the government can't listen to my personal phone calls and I can say, "eff the government" and not have people calling me a terrorist.

The republicans want us scared...I'm more afraid of changing America than terrorism. Ever notice that the government has only wanted to have more "tools" and us less rights and at the same time allow us to do nothing in the way of protecting america...they don't ask us to use less fuel, volunteer, give blood...i would have thought that there would be serious civil defense if we were really threatened.

If people were allowed to fully participate in gov't, we wouldn't have to sacrifice security for freedom. I hope that you recognize that WE, THE PEOPLE aren't making sacrifices, our FREEDOMS ARE BEING TAKEN FROM US to further the NEW WORLD ORDER.

You NEVER sacrifice freedom for security. Security, at best, is an illusion.

So avoid airports and don't do any terror plotting. Then you won't feel like your liberties are being taken from you. Easy enough.

even though i'm a liberal, i say yes to bush's spying program.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I dont understand other liberals who condemn bush for this. I believe in this situation, hes doing the right thing
