I want to find out about how it has altered lifestyles and the community from the 80s until now. Some aussie info would be great but all is helpful! I really need reliable peer reviewed sources...

Try the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

You might check out this website, because they do a lot of research, and it can be global in nature.

I think AIDS altered lifestyles by making people practicing safe sex. It was first thought it was a diease that attacked Gays, but after a research, we later found out that it was not exclusive to one community. It spanned racial barriers, sexual barriers and socio-economic groups.
It has been almost 30 years since the first diease.
I have attached a few links concerning AIDS. I hope it helps you in research. Good luck. Note that the statistics is not update- it only goes up to 2004.
All of precaution is taken by countries like AIDS awareness programs, AIDS research and development of drugs. New legislatures to protect sex trade works.

You could do a seach on google or ask jeeves and should be able to come up with some good information that you can use.
