Actually I have no clue, cause quite frankly I dont know anything about Washington State. If you are going to go to college there, or just move there, I'd say find a place 25 mins away from the beach, that way you dont have the beach front property cost but you still have pretty easy availability to the beach, plus the weather will always be pretty nice, but other than that, I would never move out of California cause its prett nice here, just not the summer between June and late August or early September. Just where ever you live, the house has to have a couple of big or small palm trees, doesn't matter, just if you have some palm trees. Why you ask, cause they are so awesome, and if I the verse reference known by heart I would tell you, but when Jesus was riding on the donkey and the people put their coats and PALM branches down for him to walk on...that should say something. Palm trees are Jesus' favorite.... : )

Oak Harbor,Washington. My sister lived there 45 yrs before she passed on. You have beautiful homes on the coast or should
I say beach. The Whidbey Island military base is there. You can only get to the city is by car over the deception pass bridge and by ferry with your car. I would get the manufactured home and I would probably buy property unless you get a good deal with a home thats already there...It rains in Washington and I don`t know of any place in Washington that does not rain in the winter. I just moved to Oregon and this is our 2nd retirement property and a small doublewide with alot of property. I love it. I am close to Medford and Grant Pass.....We don`t have sales tax; register your vehicles every 2 yrs and no smog......

If I was going to move to Washington State, I would move to Seattle. I have been told that the suicide rate is the highest in Washington State over anyother state in the US. (I cannot locate source to verify). This us because it rains 9 months out of the year. If you can handle 3 months of sunshine, then you are set.
If you are going to get a house, just be careful of mold. It is a problem up there, with all the water and such.
If you are looking to move to the Pacific Northwest have you thought about Portland, Oregon. It is just over the river from Washington and I understand it is just as nice but a heck of alot cheaper to live and it rains a little less.
I hope this helps.

Washington is wonderful. I live in Bremerton, and I love it here.
If you can afford to, buy property and put a nice manufactured home on it. But, there are many really wonderful existing houses. Some of those old farmhouses are fabulous!
If I was to live on the Olympic Peninsula, I think Forks would be where I'd go. You might prefer a place further south, though, like Ilwaco. My mother loves Ilwaco. (Pronounced ill-wah-co.)

Port Angeles is across the strait from Victoria, BC, and it's nice but not a whole lot going on. If you are looking for aesthetics and not night life, anywhere up the Olympic Peninsula is breathtaking. I liked Ocean Shores. Aberdeen is probably the nearest "city" to the ocean but it's a logging town and not particularly pretty. By the way--go!!! I would if I could!!!
