Be grateful that your doctor did this. The longer the baby stays in the womb the more it has a chance to mature & for all its systems to become complete.

I know it's uncomfortable at the end of pregnancy but do not be in a hurry to have the baby. You will have a long time with it once it's born.

Let the little one have a full & complete chance to develop all its systems.

Good luck.

Good luck.

What were these pills he gave you? I'm very curious to know. At our hospital it's unlikely you'd be turned away in active labor at 37 weeks but maybe at only 2cm your contractions weren't as strong as you thought they were (or at least weren't doing the job of opening the cervix). While 37 week babies are essentially full term, the closer to 40 weeks babies are, the better.

It sounds like your cervix wasn't favorable for delivery. If your cervix isn't soft enough it's a long hard delivery. You can push and push and the baby won't budge. They were saving you from a hard labor and a possible C-section. Also they usually don't like to deliver babies until at least 38 weeks. They want to make sure the baby's lungs are fully developed. The more developed the baby is, the less likely they are to get sick. I know you're ready but have patience. Congratulations.

The longer you can keep your baby in the better. Everyday counts in the development of a baby. They like to get as close to possible to that 40 weeks just to make sure the baby will be 100% okay.

Sometimes if a baby is early they may get a bad case of jaundice. Any minor thing they can keep from happening, that is what they will do. A baby is suppose to be in for 40 weeks, so of course the doctor (just to make him feel better and not worry about the outcome) will try to do just that.

Why?! Maybe he had a golfing date and didn't want to cancel it!

Why would you take the pills, just because a doctor told you to?!

Your body knows when it's ready and if you were ready then you shuold be able to give birth without problems or interference.

Did you know that . . .

75 percent of European women use midwives as their principal birth attendants?

Only 3 percent of U.S. women use midwives as their principal birth attendants?

The United States ranks 28th poorest in the world in infant mortality . . . just below Cuba and a good bit above Slovakia?

The United States far exceeds the first 27 countries in per-capita maternity and newborn care spending?

The United States could save at least $20 billion annually by demedicalizing childbirth . . . while saving lives in the process?

Why are these facts kept hidden from us
by the medical industry?

Why does the hospital institution want
to "parent" our babies?

Whose babies are they, anyway?

yup, sometimes they do. there must be something wrong with u or ur baby (no, I'm not scaring u - may be anything not serious), like the baby is still too small or u have a high blood pressure or kidney problems. otherwise, ask ur doctor. u have a right to know what's going on.

He may not feel that the baby is ready. Sometimes you go into labor because your uterus has reached the point where your body say ok that's enough. Call him back and ask why he did this.

Because having a premature baby can cause terrible problems for your child. Apparently your doctor does not believe your baby is mature enough to be born. Why in the world, would you not simply ask him?

sounds like they are just trying to give the baby extra time to finish developing the last few weeks baby's do the most growing but if you feel they should leave you to have it get a second opinion if this is your frist baby you should try and go full term
