You are being very naive about the entire history of man. No Race on earth, nor religion is exempt and it pre-dates the Bible. Alexander the Great was not Christian, neither were the Romans and during WW II, Japan invaded Manchurian and were not Christian so how can you attach justification to the Bible. Africans invaded and captured other African tribes to sell as slaves, The Vikings did pretty good and Ghengis Khan and Attila the Hun were not shabby. The native Americans also did the same and several tribes had slaves. The New Guineans loved fighting and the Maoris did too. The Jivaros of Matto Grosso often entered other villages to plunder and also collect heads. The war chants of the Polynesians were not friendly invitations but daring the villagers to stand up and fight. But it is not the past, but a continuing saga of greed. Throughout the short history of the US, we were often arbitrators for border clashes in South America....Europeans fighting with native levees to assume more land...so it was not only whites who did it.

Well it wasn't them, you can't blame a someone for something a relative did. If my brother hurt someone I would feel bad, but it would not be my fault. You can't change the past and I have never heard anyone justify the killings with the bible. How do you want them to respond? You can't say their answers aren't truthful, they are an opinion on whether or not someone is responsible for something that happened long before they were even born.

I do not think it is as much of a cultural thing as a Male thing.
Men are fighters and takers. Unfortunately the Native Americans were too trusting. And were manipulated out of their rights to be landholders. When they did fight back the white Americans were more prepared and had better weapons.....Shame on them!

Simple. It alleviates the guilt that they would normally feel. It is a hard thing to kill a human, but it becomes much easier if you view tham as a "savage" or "animal." At least thats the approach that US settlers and the govt. took in the 16th thru 18th centuries.

The strong will always over power the weak in our world. It is truly shameful what happened to the Natives. In my family we absolutely refuse to celebrate Columbus Day in anyway because of this. And we are white, Christian, middle-class-ish.

With all the problems that need our attention today, why are you dwelling on something no one can do anything about? Go feed the homeless or build a house with Habitat for Humanity and quit whining about history.
