instant coffee is coffee that is made very quickly with simply boiling water and an instant coffee pouch, but is typically not considered very tasty or of good quality...so people don't like it as much as fresh brewed coffee, which takes longer to make.

Instant coffee is a freeze dried, already brewed coffee, that becomes reconstituted when added to hot water.
20/20 did an experiment on people who were considered coffee snobs. Some of the ones that had said that they ONLY drink starbucks, actually picked the instant! I think coffee is an individual thing and people should drink whatever tastes good to them, even if it's instant.
ps when they were told what they had picked out as their favorite, some were very insulted!! LOL...

"Instant coffee" is a granulated dried coffee obtained by the lyophilization of a coffee solution (which is frozen at very low temperatures and then the water of the solution is removed in high vacuum by sublimation). It is very soluble in hot water. Keeps the flavor and the taste of a recent brewed coffee. This method was discovered by a Brazilian scientist that could not get the patent because of bureaucratic issues. If it is of a very good brand, people will not perceive the difference.

Instant coffee is what you make by glass. You mix it with some boiling water and you're ready to go. What you use brew coffee in the machine is not instant.

Instant coffee can be made "in an instant" in the microwave. Many people don't like it because they think it doesn't taste as good.

Basically, the concept is to "just add water." No need for a coffee maker. Warm water works best.

Generally speaking, it does not taste as good as the brewed variety; however, if you add enough stuff like sugar, cream, or milk, you can pretty much kill the taste of any weak coffee.
