It's starting to become more common with the younger generation. Most people I know moving out now only have cell phones.

I have both a land and a cell phone, but lately I've been thinking that I don't really need a land phone...and I really don't LIKE carrying a cell with me.
Maybe I'll just go without either. The only way to reach me then is by email, mailbox, or carrier pigeon.

No. On the whole, most people have both a home phone and a cell phone.

Only if you are under 25. Most people before they have a home and family choose one or the other. After 25, you should have both.
I do not have a cell phone and have seen the negative effects they have on people, and choose not to get one.

I don't think it's too common or too smart...
People need a land-line, what if they lose their cell phone? How are they going to get a new one? How will they call for help? How will they get anything done?

I have a home phone that I only use for going online. I use my cellphone like a home phone should be used.

Yes, in the US even those on welfare who can't pay their utility bills or auto insurance seem to be able to afford cell phones, long fingernails, tattoos, and cigarettes. .Of course they can be cheaper than home phones, but its rude, pretentious and totally unnecessary for people to be loudly talking on them every minute, no matter where they are.

i think it is getting to be that way. But a land line is more dependable then a cell. Also,,a land line has more security for privacy then a cell.
