only 20,000 miles on it. when it is slowing down to a stop it "bumps' and "shudders" with a jerk, it's a rough stop. same thing on acceleration from 0. took to the dealer, says nothing wrong with it. another mechanic says that it is a software problem, but Chrysler doesn't have an update on it.

I"ve owned 3 chrysler mini vans and I found that the motor mounts need to be checked from time to time. It's not an expensive proposition to have them replaced and can actually be done by yourself with simple tools. The cv axcles also should be either rebooted or replaced when the rubber tears or rots out due to age. I've rented the tools needed from the auto parts stores to do the repairs myself.....good luck

The Chrysler minivans have an A604 or A670 transmission. Not the best thing that Chrysler ever developed and they use it in many of their vehicles. Based on what you are saying it sounds as though your torque coverter is having problems. Shudder is a buzz word usually associated with torque converters. You can try to flush the transmission and add a friction modifier, but that usually speeds up the deterioration if the unit is already damaged internally. Most Chryslers carry a minimum powertrain warranty of 36 months/ 36,000 miles while others have a 7 year/ 70,000 mile powertrain warranty. If the dealer is telling you there is no problem, I would have it checked by a transmission repair facility like AAMCO or Cottman. If there findings are that of internal problem, get it in writing and return to the dealer to have the repairs taken care of under warranty. If you have no warranty, get it repaired now because the more damage occurs, the more expensive it will be! I can assure you that what you are experiencing is not normal by any means and should be rectified as soon as possible. Best of luck!

There have been a multitude of customer complaints about minivan transmissions. Chrysler likes to stick their head in the sand and hope it goes away. Go to a dealership and tell them you want a copy of the VIP for this vehicle. This is a printout of the entire history of the vehicle and will show if there are any open recalls. Also tell the dealer you want them to check for any TSB's (technical service bulletins) by using the vehicle identification number. Check to see if your car is eligible for lemon law. Now, this is important: If you bring it to a dealer with the complaint, be certain the complaint is written on the repair order as you give it. If you say the transmission bumps on slowing down, don't let them put down customers states transmission is not working properly. Also, do accept the repair order if they say they inspected the vehicle and it is performing or running as designed. Insist that they write down the customers complaint cannot be duplicated or verified. If it ever winds up in court, this will make a difference. If they refuse to put this on the repair order, call the local police. Have a police officer witness this as it may be a motor vehicle safety issue. Then, call the state department of motor vehicles and file a complaint.

First thing you need to do is find a good shop. Anyone with any kind of smarts should be able to find your problem if it is doing it all the time. And if I were to guess I would say from your description that you might have a bad CV joint as they will do exactly what you describe. But it,s impossible to say without checking it of course. Just find a good shop or a Chrysler dealer as they know your vehicle best. Good luck.

take it to a dealership, tell them to have the transmission 'quick learn' procedure run. It is a test the transmission does to test itself, it forces the transmission to pay attention to itself and correct for minor issues. This is something they can do on all 4 speed auto caravans back to 1989 models. I know that running the 'quick learn' on a 41TE transmission is the cheapest and quickest way to fix the 'bump-stop' feeling while decellerating...

Also, maybe check another transmission shop, maybe you can do the quicklearn without the factory chrysler computer...
