The action of those kids supports my opinion on a question I answered only a few minutes ago regarding how old should people be before they are considered of legal age. Those kids were showing a calloused disregard for the terrible loss of thousands of people. That shows their immaturity which is why I said the legal age should be no lower than 18. Even that might be high enough for those like the "shirt wearers" but people leaving school need to be able to work and have checking, loans, etc.
Hopefully in a few years they will realize how insensitive that was and feel some guilt.

That is almost like saying forget Pearl Harbor, forget the Boston Massacre, forget Armistice day.

I hope the school officials will at least send them home next time to change clothes.

Yeah, I would be pissed off, too, if I were you. I do think it's jacked up that the group of kids that did this were not disciplined. Maybe it is their way of dealing with what happened, and they do want to forget about the incident and move on. However, like several readers above me have said, thousands of lives were sacrificed that day-- are we supposed to forget about that, too? We are all entitled to our own opinions, but this is a little extreme. On the anniversary of 9/11 of all days, people should definitely show some respect for some other people, especially those who have had tremendous losses to overcome. It's absolutely ridiculous how heartless people can be sometimes. Don't let it get you down, though, okay? These kids wanted a reaction from you, that's probably why they pulled a stunt like this in the first place. Take care and God bless you.

It depends on whether you did anything to that group of people. I personally don't believe there is any harm in you being mad. You're expressing your feelings and so were they. We are all entitled to our own opinions. I don't believe it was a very tasteful thing for them to do myself, but them again that's just my opinion. Maybe someone at your school should have said something to them about wearing those shirts. Apparently the principal didn't care that they might start a problem or cause a scene. But I wouldn't worry about being mad over it. If I was there I would have felt the same way.

I guess that is the price you have to pay for freedom of speech and freedom of expression. You may not agree and it may make you really mad but if you take away their right to express themselves, well then you're no better than the people who preform these terrorist acts because thats what they are all about, denying freedom and liberty.

We weren't directly affected by the 9/11 incident over here in australia but i do feel for the people who died and i seen the live broadcast as it happened when the towers collapsed. I have never seen anything so devestating and horrible. I do agree that many thousands of people are killed around the world each day in wars and battles and that is equally disgusting, but it was the way in which it happened and people need to realize the difference between an act of war and an act of terrorism - that is where the difference lays.

That makes me mad also. I don't think we should dwell on the tragedy every day of our lives, but I don't think that we should be telling people to get over it. Losing thousands of our countrymen and women is not something to get over. We have had our lives changed because of this day, it will live on in history. This just shows how self-centered and heartless some people are. I pray that none of them ever lose any beloved friends or family members in such a horrible way. We cannot let this horror change or run our lives, but it is not something you get over, like a bad cold. This shows how cold and heartless some people really are. I find it difficult to believe that the school administration allowed such a thing to be worn. I have taught in many schools, and I don't believe that would have been considered appropriate school attire. If you want to wear it out of school, that would be your choice. This is one of the reasons that the world is in such a mess, people think that they are just individuals, and do not have any affect or others; or they were doing it to cause controversy as they have nothing else better to do in their lives. May God help us all. Have a good night.

Yes, it is good that you are angry! Most people, or at least anyone with a heart would be as well. What's next for these low life's -"getting over" the The Holocaust, WWI & WWII, VietNam...all of these as well as 9/11 are events that are cause for people to mourn and reflect. You either retaliate by holding up a sign at these people saying, "Get over yourself" or completely ignore them, knowing in your heart you have the decency of respect toward others. Also, you could report them to the school admin. for offensive behaviour - case in point - no one is allowed to wear racial slurs on their t-shirts, why allow something not only Anti-American, but just plain ignorant! (signed, a Canadian...'United We Stand')

I guess the question about whether being mad is good depends on what you do in response to your anger. If you take your anger and kick their asses (like other people propose that you should do), then no, that's not a good thing. They're as entitled to their opinion as you are to yours.

Perhaps you should be equally blunt with your point of view as they are with theirs. They are certainly inviting a "spirited discussion" in wearing shirts like that, why not give them what they are asking for? Get in their face, get pissed off, give them a piece of your mind. "Evoking a reaction" is only entertaining the first few times you do it. If they are faced with enough hostility, maybe they will rethink whether their shirts represent their true feelings.

It depends upon your reason for being mad. If you are mad that they are so self absorbed that increased security in general is inconveniencing them, and they want to rant about it - then yes anger is a justifiable reaction.

If you are mad because you fell that they are being insensitive - yet, you do not know a single person's name who was in the twin towers, pentagon, flight 93, or any service man or woman who has been killed, in this "global war on terrorism" - then you are not justified and I feel that you are a bandwagon jumper, and have no business with any reaction whatsoever.

9/11 and the security measures that followed are a challenge to the very Constitution of the United States. The aftermath is forcing us to truly evaluate the costs of the freedoms that we in America enjoy. Is the danger to the citizenry high enough to warrant curtailing those very freedoms that the Constitution establishes? I hope that our elected officials are wise enough to figure out how to balance an elephant on a razor.

Sorry for the long winded answer, but I do not believe that it would be wise to simply "get over it", lest we find ourselves in a similar situation in the future.

It is never good to pass remarks on such issues which hurt the feelings of a nation. No attention should be paid. People are already on the job. Remembering their loved ones is a proof that Nation is not insensitive.

I WONDER IF ANY OF THE SHIRT WEARERS HAD BEEN KILLED IN THAT CATASTROPHE, IF THEY WOULD WANT THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND FELLOW AMERICANS TO "GET OVER IT" ?? I THINK SOME IDIOTS WILL DO OR SAY ANYTHING, NO MATTER HOW TASTELESS, JUST TO UPSET OTHER PEOPLE. I PUT THESE LOSERS IN THE SAME CATEGORY AS THE NON-HUMANS WHO ARE PUTTING OUT THEORIES THAT THE HOLOCAUST NEVER REALLY HAPPENED. THESE PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE THEIR OVERPRIVELEGED LITTLE NOSES RUBBED IN THE ASHES OF THE SLAUGHTERED JEWS. BUT, THIS IS HOW AMERICA WORKS. WE ARE SO BLESSED TO BE ABLE TO SAY OR DO WHATEVER WE WANT. BUT, WE DON'T HAVE TO LIKE WHAT IS BEING DONE. SO, JUST MENTALLY SHAKE YOUR HEAD AND LOOK AWAY. BECAUSE, WHAT THEY WANT IS A RESPONSE. AND IF YOU DON'T GIVE IT TO THEM, THEY WENT THROUGH ALL THAT TROUBLE FOR NOTHING.
