should the temprature gage read between 100 & 125 degrees, or between 125 and 150 degrees

It should run around 180 degrees. 150 is too cool. The engine will not run right if it's not brought up to temp. Plus, the parts in the engine are made with such a close tolerance, they need to warm up properly to reduce friction when the metal expands. Good luck.

It will normally run about 200 to 210 degrees F. The thermostat should open at 195 F. What a lot of people don't understand is that the thermostat is there to keep the engine hot, not cold. The hotter an engine runs (to a point) the better it runs and the more mileage it gets. That is why you don't see 160,or 180 thermostats much. Some cars still have 185s but that is about as low as you can go. You don't see a lot of sludge in engines anymore either. Cold engines and short trip driving make sludge, and that wears out the engine.

usualy the t-stat will open at 195. If you are running colder than that it is faulty.
