Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth. This will build up your lung capacity. I used to think of a fast paced song and my breathing and body would fall in line.

long slow breaths. you want to use your full lung capacity, not short breaths that use just the upper part of your lungs.
some people find it helps to count paces while they breathe, like in for 4 steps then out for 4. some people like to sing to themselves, which encourages deep breaths and long exhales, and also gets your mind off the distance.

Personally, I always found that following a pattern helps. I gasp breath in twice during the first two steps, then during the next two I exhale.

long distance or short distance doesn't really matter you should always breathe in through your nose and out your mouth during any activity.

in your nose you breathe for a couple of steps thenout it goes thru you mouth when you breathe out.

shop your mouth open and breathe of course. maximum persons are not getting sufficient air respiratory via merely the nostril. in case you concentration too a lot on your respiratory it would substitute into puzzling for you.
