Today women in USA have more Civil rights than men. Daily the media bombards us with anti-male tv shows, news & advertisements. The Politically Correct attack & correct men when we say the wrong thing. In this era of male witch hunts, can men be treated fairly?

Do women get their rocks off by seeing men being treated unfairly via the media & our laws?
In the past, men have treated women in an unfair manner. But does that excuse today's reverse sexism against men?

Please no bogus statistics.

radical gender feminists

tv shows-every Hollywood movie/tv show has it's dumb man moments...while
women are held up as perfect. Loss of Civil Rights is a big deal.

Women are great, every man should hug one! Intelligent women don't scare me,
they are highly attractive.

I just see so much hatred against men.
Here, in Yahoo groups, etc. And when us guys complain, it's "not politically correct." So both women & beta males attack us?

Peace to all, I'm just looking for answers.
Men have been asked to change ever since I can remember (1970s.) And we have been changing...but it's never enough.

yeah in a way feminists in america have gone too far
because instead of initiating the battle of the sexes
they could just promote how men and women will understand each other and be with each other without dominating one another
feminists just do revenge against men when they become anti
we can all both work better if we dont fight one another
its not about what your sex is its about your principles in life

A very good question. I don't know if I can answer this question without being partial. I am a woman. I read online, actually on yahoo! answers that a girls was working in a hospital taking the health info and getting patient history and basically signing them in. She was confronted with the real difference between America and the Middle East. A Man brought his wife into the ER, and he refused to speak to her because she was a lowly woman.

I cannot say I am sorry that there are anti male advertisements, although there are plenty of anti female commercials out there too. Just depends on the product being sold by that company. Who is the biggest purchaser of their product.

I don't see how News is under female control, maybe you could answer that one to me. We just got the first solo primetime female newcaster ever.

TV Shows, as above stated, who watches more of the comedies, and what gives the biggest laugh. My husband loves that stuff, but won't watch all the time. Even if it is a show that offers some anti female humor. Men just like to do stuff related to sports, I think it is a bonding issue. Women like to laugh, and have programs to pull the stresses of the day out of them. Don't make us think. We have already conversed way more than men have, worried about the next 20 years. planned the meals for the next week, created a check list a mile long that needs to be kept track of in our heads.

I am not offering false stats on this. If the women run all the errands, make out the bills, decide what junior is going to wear the next day, found your favorite tie for the big meeting this week. And a million other things today, I think the shows, and advertisements can afford us a little respect to our gender.

Sorry guys, but you have no idea what it is like being a woman. I really think it all balances itself out in our society.

I agree that women have gone too far. Of course, all women aren't feminist. I for one believe that men and women have different roles in life and men are more for leadership both in the world and in the home. I really can't stand feminists to be honest. I think its all a big load of trash. Men are stronger physically and mentally (okay sure there's the exception to the rule...butch women). But the thing I can't stand the most is a woman that wants to be over the man and bosses him around and all and then turns around and wants to be treated like a lady and have the door opened and be treated all special. If the roles reverse then the women get the same treatment as a man to man too. You're right women are just being sexist against men and its not right!

First off do not listen to or read comments from people like looksadpaper. You are not an expert and anyone who has taken a simple course like psychology can say they've done "extensive research".

As to the point of women being viewed soley as sex objects -- is simply untrue. Men by nature are more sexually active or express their opinions about sex, more openly than women. Also women in our culture choose to put much emphasis on looks.

Some of the divisions between sexes is purely by nature. For example, guys are biologically built to be bigger and stronger than women. So rough things like sports or the military, are deemed guy categories.

It sickens me when I see indoctrinated young people fed such crap. I guess that's what happens when over 80% of the media is liberal.

I just wish that everyone could truly be equal. I get so sick and tried of listening to people complain about how unfairly they are being treated. You really have a point. It seems like these feminist are going to stop at nothing until the rule the world sometimes - doesn't it? It's so annoying. I don't want anyone to be treated unfairly. I don't think anyone should be judged by anything, God doesn't judge, Jesus didn't judge, we shouldn't judge. All of our jobs should be chosen by our qualifications, not worrying about if the workplace has equal amounts of women and minorities. That sometimes leads to under qualified people doing certain jobs. I really, really agree with you. I hope that you find all of th answer that you are looking for and I hope that you have a great night!

I think the feminist movement has hurt women in many ways. It encouraged women to take on some of the worse characteristics of men. It encouraged sex without responsibility which mainly hurts women. It depreciated the role of stay at home mother. It made divorce easier and put the woman in the position of receiving less benefits—"she's capable of getting a job and supporting herself."

Men's main loss is that they usually appear stupid in commercials and sit-coms.

Actually feminists have not gone far enough. Neither have educated males. We still have a military that has admitted to showing violent pornography to pilots before bombing runs. We have cover ups of rapes to both civilian and military women by men. They are getting the message that violence is "hot" which is bound to screw them up as far as social interactions go. (just check out any issue of the Guardian formerly the Manchester Guardian, the Christian Science Monitor or the Utne Reader and you will find more and more atrocities of this nature coming to light on a daily or weekly basis.)

It used to be that women had zero strong women role models (with the possible exception of a few female super-heroes.. which one can hardly aspire to being like without special powers.)

There is the pendulum theory of course, women have been portrayed far worse in the media both fictional and real than any man.
You mention males being treated unfairly in the law.. by any chance are you not supporting the children of your divorced spouse?

I do not see any special treatment of female law breakers. I do not see any special treatment of women in the work place where women still today earn about 59 cents for every dollar a man earns in the same job.

I do not see men being villified unless they have in fact been a villan. I have not seen male witch hunts. As to politically correct and incorrect, I do not believe in either. I believe in PH... Politically Hopeless.

Nor do I believe women "get their rocks off" at any time in any manner.. since this slang comes from testicles(rocks) and guess what? we are grateful we don't have them.

Before you call me sexist, let me point out that I abhor the misuse of power by anyone male or female.. (example of female is Condi Rice)

It is just there is still more power in the hands of men than of women and until that changes to being an equal situation, I will most likely continue to side with the feminists on most issues. (side with rather than proclaim my affiliation because I did more than 30 years as a feminnist activist and pretty much now stick to writing and educating rather than being out there in the streets with my protest signs.)

true skillz -
your reply is presumptuous and arrogant beyond belief, and to put your mind at ease my "qualification" is a university degree dedicated to studying media representations on maligned and unfairly represented groups - females, non-whites, youth etc.
The fact you convinced yourself that I'm some uneducated git betrays your true beliefs about women and makes your argument lose the credibility you are no doubt certain it has.
Although my gut tells me you're a pseudo-intellectual with no actual facts to back your opinions up, I am looking for published works which reinforce your argument, for my honours thesis next year. If you can provide any I'd be appreciative. I'm especially interested to see your source for your comment that women like being portrayed the way they are because the overwhelming evidence I located suggest otherwise. I am after professional literature, not just your opinion (no matter how confident you are that you are right)
Thanks,
Looksadpaper
p.s - my case studies were all focused in Australia, which may be different to wherever you are. I know 95% of our newspapers are conservative, owned by News Ltd.

No it does not excuse anti-male rhetoric and in truth some feminists have gone too far but your question needs to be more specific, what kind of feminists are you talking about? Postmodern, radical? there are different kinds.

Also its not a valid argument to simply state that there are anti-male tv. shows, news and ads, you must give at least one example and what kind of politically correct terms are you referring to?

It depends from what perspective you look at the issue, I have studied and worked in the corporate world, namely PR, and let me tell you I still get called "babe" and sometimes slighted when I offer a statement that is later validated.

Thanks for your comment/question but it really depends whose shoes you're standing in.

Peace out!
