I am looking for some really good cool tunes from before 1960, I like diverse stuff like Route 66 and Rocket 88, Blues in the Night is one of my favorites. I also like old songs remade by newer artists. I have Route 66 by Mayer, thanks. Any other ideas welcome thanks.

Here's some songs I remember from the fifties:
Music, Music, Music by Teresa Brewer
Mona Lisa by Nat King Cole
The Tenessee Waltz by Patti Page
Young at heart by Frank Sinatra
A Stranger in Paradise by Tony Bennett
All good songs I heard when I was growing up. (Might be older than what you're looking for)

Some good stuff includes blues like Muddy Waters, and Carl Perkins, try some 50s stuff like DooWop or Girl group, there's so much, check into some old 30s blues...Robert Johnson, supposedly sold his soul to the devil to make the best blues ever...they allude to this character on O brother where art though, he's the guy waiting at the cross roads...plays with the soggy bottom boys, and then once you find what you like, you are all set.

Try Carlos Gardel from the 1920s and 30s. He sings Argentine tango. There's also Buddy Holly, the Flamingos, and the Drifters, etc.

I love Rosemary Clooney and Blues in the NIght. Which version do you like? Quincy Jones' version is great too.
