This alert comes when you're running out of hard drive space. There are several methods of freeing up space so this alert won't bother you.

1. Delete unwanted files, including Apps.
2. Compress files that aren't used much, or that don't really need to be that large. A good way to do this is to use the Zip compression available by control-clicking on the desired items and selecting "Create Archive of...." from the contextual menu. Rarely used applications usually compress very well.
3. Get a second hard drive. Either install or external, and place files on there so you can delete them on your primary.
4. Back up files to CD/DVD and delete.
5. Place files on network storage and delete.
6. Clear Caches. Internet browsers don't seem to cache much, but programs like Google Earth, and Qucktime, you could free yourself of quite a bit, but they'll show up when you use them again.
7. Quit unneeded running programs. These use both RAM and Virtual Memory, which VM is space on your hard drive.
8. Get more RAM. Lightens the load for VM.

It means that your hard drive is almost out of space to store anymore items. You should backup files and remove uneccessary items off your hard drive to clear up space for new things.
