I am sorry your colleagues have such a negative attitude towards others. You can not get your colleagues to change their attitude by will, but you can influence them to make more productive choices, and perhaps over time, to modify their attitude by example.

I have been in that situation and found that speaking my truth helped. "I like X and I like you. When you say these types of things, it feels like sniping, and for the same reason I would not allow others to talk about you that way, I would like you to not talk about X when I am around. (You are not asking them to change who they are, you are asking them to respect your feelings).

One person with integrity can influence a whole group of negative folks by simply speaking their truth and insisting on civility as a start for more productive communications.

Good luck!

tell your associates that in the experience that they don't provide up gossiping you'll leave them because you sense uncomfortable. in the experience that they proceed, then both discover yet another set of pals, or in basic terms bypass solo. if you're solo, the in basic terms determination you'll have is gossiping to your self it really is in basic terms not gossiping yet prejudice it really is also undesirable yet i do not imagine not as undesirable. might want to Allah help you Salaam

try changing the subject everytime they start it and hopefully they will get the message you don't want that drama in your life....unfortunately some ppl love to be nasty, gossip and back stab and usually they are immature and lacking in self esteem so hurting others makes them feel better about themselves.

You can't make them feel more peaceful towards others, you can however, tell them that you are not okay with the things that they are saying and that you would appreciate it if they would not say it in front of you.

Work with more mature people? A lot of people don't seem to be happy unless they have something to complain about. So if it wasn't a co-worker or some such then it would be something else.

Put a big in sign in the break that reads, "Careful what you say, Big Brother is listening."

In my opinion, if you get involved, they will start gossiping about you. Other than this, I don't know what to tell you.
