general stereotypes (I do not agree with any of them):
blacks are strong, big criminals
hispanics are illegals in america
asians are unattractive (esp. guys)
there are many other stereotypes that make people perceive others to be less than human and less than their own race...
what do you think of racism and please be honest when you answer the question: are you racist?
something tells me that all of us are all subjected to being partially racist...though i would like to think otherwise
please DONT ATTACK ME...i am not accusing anyone of being a racist or saying that these stereotypes are true...i am merely saying that there are many influences that cause people to be racist....are you a result of this?

just to answer one of the answerer's questions....the white stereotype (in my opinion) is one that portrays them as being the stereotypers....the ones that look down on other races, because whites have never really experienced racism...they are also portrayed as rich, sometimes spoiled, and somewhat snobby
once again, I DO NOT BELIEVE IN THAT STEREOTYPE...i am just saying that i think that that is what the "white" stereotype is....others may think differently and i am perfectly ok with that

As you say I too believe everyone is a racist. Not really for what the term actually means in today's society. There are so many forms of racism today that you can not just put a name to one person we are all racists. We all agree to not like racists so when ever we think we have encountered one we call tripe when tripe is served. Even though it may be a catfish or a cod. meaning the first words out of our mouths is "You are a racist. That is why you are treating me this way.". This before we even get the facts as to why they have done what they have done. When you are mad keep quiet and listen and you might just learn something, other that that person is a racist. I too am a racist I dislike anyone who accuses me of being a liar, a thief, a racist, however they can call me all sorts of foul language names and I could care less.

Once again...
rac·ism (rszm)
n.
1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
If you are not a racist then you are not able to understand what the word racist means. Not a criticism, just the definition of the word as it's used in the english language. Like any social phenomina racism is only as good or bad as those who practice it. The ignorance surrounding racist beliefs is more the fault of the taboo of racism and our society's reluctance to clinically explore the physiological and psychological differences between different ethnicities. If one race had a proven genetic aptitude for music it would be ignorant of us to dismiss it as a stereotype. We all know we are not alike, we can see it in each other's skin. Is it more ignorant to believe the difference could be important or to ignore it alltogather?

Honestly I would call myself a racist against racists. I don't like them, but I have been accused of being racist because I don't want to learn Spanish in the USA. I have no problems with the Spanish people, just that I am being told to learn their language but they are not learning English. I am not white, I look White but I am a Heinz 57(a person of many nationalities, 3 native American, German, Polish, Hungarian, Irish, Scottish, British) when people speak to me and state the phase," you as a white woman would you blah blah blah... I stop them and say I'm not white, when I am asked what race I am I say they don't have my category. I have dated black, oriental and Spanish. I lived in Germany had to learn how to speak German, I just don't like being told I have to learn Spanish. I'm an American in the USA.
Sometimes I wonder if people in the military are less racist because to be in the military you travel all over the world. You have to respect their cultures in their countries. Being that the military isn't racially divided (at least I only saw it 1 time in my 20 years as a military brat)
I also have been a victim of a form of racism, because I went to a place that wasn't military and they called me a traitor, a Nazi, a foreigner just because I was once stationed in Germany and England. I went to a nonmilitary town because my grand parents lived there.
Racism isn't just where you were born, what color you are or what language you speak or what religion you practice.

I'm not a racist, but it I do think there are some people who perpetuate their own negative stereotypes and those people really piss me off.
I think people in general will always have an us against them mentallity and we thrive on separating ourselves into groups in a way. We always need somebody to be against and it's just easier to be against those who look obviously different from us. If aliens really showed up here and we all knew they were real it would end racism. Because the new us would be all people against the new them.

Nope, I am not racist at all. I'm white but I have family members that are all different races. Aunts, Uncles, and cousins that are white, black, Asian, Latino, Native American, and mixed.
My biological daughter is white, black, and Puerto Rican. My adopted daughter is Laotian. We are about as diverse as any family can be. Not only racially but religiously as well.
To believe any stereo types of other races would be disrespectful and demeaning to my own family.

Dont agree with Button.
All racists are uneducated, narrow minded bastards and bitches.
There is good and bad in EVERY race, so you have to be open minded enough to know not everyone is a racist. You have to learn to love one another to go forward.

Stereotyping is not racism.
Whites are the biggest criminals of all time. No black has ever done anything as big as Enron or Lincoln Savings!
Racism is saying all blacks, hispanics and asians are bad, period. No ifs ands or buts
Racism is saying I'd rather die than have blood from a black person.
Stereotyping is saying all girls with blonde hair are ditzy!

i am not racist; however, i am prejudiced based on life experiences. i hate to admit that, but that's a true assessment of myself. on the other hand, i do enjoy learning things about other cultures. i find it interesting; still i have prejudices some of which are based on stereotypes.
good question
