hmm, as far as i know, the quad core processor (code name Kentsfield) isn't designed for notebooks. and until now i didn't hear something about a successor for the Core 2 Duo (Merom), but this doesn't mean anything is in the pipeline.

in case a quad core cpu for notebooks will be released, i bet it will not fit in current mobos.

First, I have heard nothing about a quad chip, your crystal ball must go out into the futrue much father then mine.

Even if it was coming down the pike, you would not find that kind of expansion capability on a notebook computer. Every square inch is used for the current system.

The motherboard would have to be completely different. Just get what you can now and be happy with it. MacBook Pro is awesome.

I doubt it. That would probably require a different motherboard with a different set of support chips. Every motherboard can only support a small number of options. They are rarely made for chips that are not yet released.

I would imagine that the motherboard would not be able to handle it. You might research the type of motherboard they are putting that chip on. The motherboard and processor should determine that.

Keep in mind, you'll never be ahead of technology.....!!! Sad but true.
