Experiences in my life have definitely made me jaded and numb. I do not trust anyone fully. And the only people that I trust at all are the ones who have been in my life for many years. I'm always waiting for their ulterior motive. My husband was my closest friend since childhood and it still took him more than 3 years to convince me that he loved me and wouldn't hurt me. Thank God he's a patient man.
I was raped as a child, numerous times. I had and alcoholic mother. I grew up to get into an extremely abusive relationship. I got pregnant by this man and in my 7th month he just up and left. He came back 2 years later and wanted me to take him back, when I wouldn't he stalked me for years. These are the main reasons that I do not trust people any more.

No way it's made me stronger. What don't kill you makes you stronger, it's true. If not for life experiences I wouldn't be the person I am today. I was married to a lazy bum that mentally abused me for 2 yrs. Had a daughter and got divorced. Then I was with another man that done the same in more subtle ways, only at least he would work. That relationship was 6 yrs., mostly cause I was so worried about hurting him. But now I am married to the most wonderful man in the world. We've been married for 5 yrs and have a 3 yr. old together, plus my daughter and his 2 boys. Some lessons are just harder learned, but I learned from my 2 mistakes and was determined not to ever let anyone else run over me again. I'm pretty proud of myself, and so is my family.

In my own view; no. But I have come to a point that I don't believe everything I read or hear on the news. Others may see that as "jaded" or "numb". We hear so much bad news these days, it's hard not to become numb about death and suffering. I suppose lately, I try not to let bad news that has nothing to do with me take up precious brain space.

Perhaps a wee bit numb, but not jaded. Not so naive; I sometimes have a jaundiced eye because I have witnessed so much.

It can and will if you let it. One of the things that we must do in life is to NOT let it, or else we will end up being miserable and old. This type of thinking also has been scientifically shown to lead to more health problems and poor prognoses when we do get sick.
