my male guppies will not leave the females alone. all day and all night they are chasing them and it looks like they are nipping at the females fins... i thought it might be some mating thing, but its so constant that im getting worried about the health of my females. there are plenty of females and few males, but they seem to bug the sh*t out of each and every female. any ideas as to why they are so psycho? is it an ongoing mating "dance" thats lasted more than 2 days? any ideas?

Sounds like you have some seriously horny male guppies! hehehe - mine just had some babies too!

It's very normal behavior - get ready for your first liter!

Out of curiosity, you have at least two females for every single male, right?

I hate to say it, but this is normal. The male guppies will hump, well, anything. Including other fish. Seriously. There are reports of people successfully breeding "muppies" using male guppies and female mollies.

Ever see a tank with just males? Yes, they're incredibly, uh, horny (for lack of a better word) then, too. Next time you go to a pet store that carries fish, look at the all-male guppy tank. I guarantee you will see some gay behavior. It is just the way of the male guppy.

Since female guppies store sperm, the males will constantly try to get theirs in. It is normal, but I find that decorations and plants will help relieve some of the females stress,

It is very normal for males to constantly chase the females. IF your females start to lose their fins , then I suggest you get a tank divider or a birthing tank to separate them. But yes it is a very normal habit, got to keep the circle of life flowing.

It's a guy thing.

The females will be fine. Eventually the guys relax.

It is what guppies do. Stop the worrying.
