Well stuff happens. U cant expect a child to go to school and not get picked on at least once. But if its an everyday thing, dont waist ur time with the school bored. Go right to the bully's father and kick his A S S!!!! Give him hell just like the bully gave ur niece. Well at least thats what i would do if anyone messed with my younger brother or sis.

I am a teacher and I see this so many times...if she is the smallest or the type of child that doesn't fight back that might be a reason...first ask her if she is telling her teachers..if she says yes and has those types of teachers that doesn't "do" anything about it then maybe you could speak with her principal about having her placed into another room (of the same grade of course.)..My principal has done this for several parents at my school for that very reason...Many times bullies "bully" because they are jealous of that person because of popularity of that child if she is pretty and well liked then this could be the case, you could explain that to her...You might enroll her in some extra curricular activities that could boost her esteem and make some different friends that would take her mind off the people who treat her badly....

Tell her that she should always be kind to the people who bully her... the reason being at this age those who bully are jealous of her talents. Tell her that she should be happy because she is being noticed as being different. And different... is good. Tell her it won't last much longer but to be positive if it gets worse. Lean on her friends if she can for emotional support. And if your niece ever doubts her character because of what someone tells her, tell her how you see her through your eyes. Tell her that what you see is what draws her friends to her. And when the going gets tough tell her how much you love her. I was bullied and the best thing that make me feel happy was being told that I was LOVED. Never underestimate the power of love. It is always needed and needed more in dire situations.

People at school are just rude.. it doesnt matter if you are pretty etc.. somebody will always find something to tease you about. These bullies are just hurting on the inside as well. Probably family problems or they could be getting tease as well. They just pick on people because they think it will make them look better. Just tell your niece to ignore it or tell her to tell the teacher about this situation.

She's an easy target for this. Have her brothers or some other relatives go with her. If it's guys, they should stomp their butts, but if it's girls, I don't know what to tell you.
More seriously, if your niece is as nice as of a child as you desribed, I would consider not sending her to school altogether and opt for other legal methods of education. The public schools are pretty bad places, regarding both the educational system and the other kids who can be pretty vile and corrupt.

I would guess that other kids are jealous or insecure. They'll also tend to pick on 'nice' kids because they are easy targets! Just make sure that she always tells you, or another adult, of any occurrences and make sure that they are dealt with accordingly. Don't dismiss it as normal behaviour, as it is unacceptable, especially at that young of an age!

I would talk to the school counselors first to make them aware of the situation. I would also explain to her that those kids make fun of her because they aren't comfortable with themselves. This will probably be hard for an 8 year-old to understand though.

Well this is hard to do. She will have to stand her on ground if she wants them to stop. Kids these days are so mean and they take it out on those who look weak to them. My son who is 10 has the same problem. I have told him to stand his ground but he does not and they keep doing it. Sometimes faking a stand up for your self works.

Tell her to start throwing punches. J/K How about telling her that there are poeple in the world that will be mean and she has to learn how to deal with them. Usually ignore them. Good Luck!

She'll have to stand up for herself. I got bullied by this same kid for years until I finally had enough one day and called his bluff. He backed down and never bothered me again.
