Hi

Iodine is an element. So it is just one atom or a pair of atoms. Each Iodine atom weighs 126 atomic units so a pair of Iodine atoms would weight 252 atomic units.

Water is a molecule of H2O, right?, so a hydrogen atom weighs 1 unit, and an Oxygen atoms weighs 16 atomic units. So water weighs only 18 units.

Starch is a "polymer" - that means it is made of a lineup of smaller pieces strung together. So, a common unit used to string together to make starch would be glucose sugar. A glucose has C6H12O6 -- if you add up the weight of all those atoms, then one molecule of glucose would weigh 180 units. And since starch is a polymer, you would have to have at least two of them (but really, you would have a whole bunch of glucose's all in a row) so the least a starch could weight would be at least 180 + 180 = 360 units.

So there you go!

starch has the largest molecule. if we add iodine in a starch product to test for starch presence... the iodine tends to seem in the starch product. therefore starch has bigger molecule... of all water is the smallest molecule has it can move through any permeable membrane. so to order these three from the smallest to the largest molecule, is water, iodine then starch.
