You blew it. The question is "What's a henway?" The answer: "About 10 pounds" relies on the question being spoken, so that the joke can trade on the intentional confusion of "what is" for "what does" (both of which are "what's" in their contracted form) and secondary to this confusing "henway" (the name of some hypothetical animal) for "hen weigh".
