3 hours = 180 minutes = 10800 seconds
38 minutes = 2280 seconds

10800 + 2280 + 9 = 13089 seconds

42.2km = 42,200 meters

(42200/13089) = about 3.22408 m/s

ANS : about 3 m/s

Change 3 hours to 180 minutes and 9 seconds to 0.15 minutes. Then add up all the minutes and divide by 42.2 km giving minutes per km.

Convert the time into hours first then divide the distance by the time to get the speed in km/hour hint: you should get something over 10km/hour

9 sec=9/60 min=.15 min
38.15 min=38.15/60 hr=.63583 hr
so, his speed is 42.2/3.63583=11.6067 km/hr

convert hours and minutes to seconds and add in the 9 seconds, then divide by the kilometers, then take that answer and divide by 360 to get miles per hour

13,089 sec = time
42,200 m = distance
t/d=vel.
vel= 13,089/42,200
vel=0.3101 m/s
vel=1.11636 km/hr
