First ask yourself what you like to do, what are your skills, what are your areas of expertise. Then brainstorm and research.
I can suggest a couple of shortcuts. If you have a marketable skill that can be done easily in a freelance, per-project manner, then look into signing up with some of the freelance sites. There are many. One of the biggest is at http://www.elance.com - where in-demand skills include writing (of various kinds), graphic design, programming, and research. Be aware, though, that you'll be bidding against people all around the world, some of whom may be willing to work for what would be considered below minimum wage in the U.S.
I like selling digital information products (ebooks and software) online. You can do this on eBay and through your own web sites. It's a huge marketplace. If you have a creative background, you can probably create such products that would be very marketable. If not, it's easy to acquire ones that you can resell.
There is a ton of free information available that can help. One great free information resource that I highly recommend is listed under Sources. You'll find information about eBay and other online businesses. You'll even find products you can acquire for free and resell on eBay or elsewhere. That's a great way to get your feet wet in this kind of business.
I do not recommend that you invest in any internet marketing courses or books. There are some good ones, but many aren't worth much. If you do have any interest in selling things online, you'll find plenty of free resources if you look around.

Yes. I have worked at home for 7 years in Information Technology and Program Management. Companies do hire, but many want to hire and have the talent prove themselves before they send their employees to work from home. For as many scams against employees, there are scammers that employers have to watch for.
My advise, no real work at home job should cost you money to do.. If they want you to pay to play, it is either a scam or a business, or a membership to look for what exists through networking.
LinkedIn Telecommuting Professional Yahoo Group was just launched this week as a free network for legitimate telecommuting resources. It is a moderated Yahoo Group and designed for professionals looking for legitimate telecommuting jobs.

Or the Helping Friends Career Network does periodic special eNewsletters researching award winning flexible work companies and telecommuting companies.

I have been searching for such a honest job for past 6 months, nd till now no luck!
I am very wary of online job/survey stuff now, having been duped twice,
I suggest u also please check out the legitimacy of the job/survey u r joining,
Some widely used resources for checking them are the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org) and the national fraud center (www.fraud.org).
You can find more detailed information about a company at
http://tinyurl.com/gtb89
nd plz dont ever pay anything to anyone to get a job!
all the best :)

They give you all the information you'll need. Best of all, it's free and they don't require you to give out any personal information.

There are some! But it rather easy to spot the scams; if you have to pay ANYTHING up front, it a scam!

Hi, are you good at talking to people about their problems, especially talking with parents about their children? There are many parents who would like to get help for tackling all sorts of problems they have with their kids, right from infants and toddlers to teenage children. They would welcome any assistance they could get.
If you think you might be interested in this sort of work, please write in.
