A study has shown that yawning is linked to empathy. The more you relate to others, more empathy, the more you will be compelled to yawn after someone else does. Its a human relation issue I guess you can say.

I don't know why yawns are "contagious" but when I read your question I yawned. I can even yawn and make my Pomeranian yawn. Crazy but true.

nobody can really explain it. its not really contagious its just when you see it, you get it in your head and your next instinct is to yawn. just like when somebodys scratching everywhere, it makes you wanna scratch too. for no apparent reason!! its all in our heads guys!!
