A being's concordance with reality.

This is a pretty interesting question - and not an easy one to answer.

If I tell you the truth about an event as I see it - and I am sincere and truly believe what I am telling you is a true account based on all of the information I have - if it turns out to be incorrect, can it be said that I lied or that I am a liar? Can it be said that I told you the truth?
My point is simple enough: it is not black and white - there are no simple answers.

The truth is the reality - an statement that can be tested and proved - a statement which cannot be debated with any validity. For example, truth: The earth rotates around the sun. Lie: The earth is the center of the universe.
And, of course, the gray area: Global warming is a phenomenon caused by man.

Depends on what you are asking, exactly. Your definition or mine. Some context would help.
One perception of Truth is that it means what is true in any particular environment.
(As opposed to facts, which don't change no matter the viewpoint.) This is when you are telling 'the truth' as you perceive it in court.
For example, you might have seen the driver of a blue car committing a crime, and another witness sees the same crime and the car is purple because of the reflection of lighting (or metalflake paint). You both tell the truth, but there are differences in fact.

Politicians like to 'spin' things so that different people see different truths, and the more different viewpoints can be initiated, the fewer people actually make the facts part of their truth. If they can manage to keep any majority of people from getting together on the facts, then they can get away with anything.

Truth is 10 points if you choose my answer to be the best and on any case, I'll get 2 points for this....

But the truth is... it exists.

In this day and age the only truth is one having a success ratio.
Compare it to ANYTHING you think is not right.

The third side to the story (yours, mine, and the truth).

Truth: conformity to fact or actuality; a statement generally accepted as true by all parties.

Or it is the version that hits the bookstores first.
