Your best bet is to look at local wire conditions in your house in a quest for the best possible dial up speed. A dedicated wire back to telephone company point of entry can do wonders! Also try to get an ISP where you can run with just DUN and not ISP special software. Most accelerators work by reducing the quality of the images seen on the websites. None will truely increase your download speed. ISP quality is another factor that can be hit or miss in a particular location.

The best that you can do, is to use a dial-up service that does not deliver endless ADS. That is what chews up the bandwidth the most. Find a local provider at http://www.thelist.com and look.

A friend of mine uses the old ATT Worldnet. It seems pretty close to 56K. There are absolutely no silly ads or extra downloads. (unlike that other three letter word).

Visit http://www.att.net/

Set your HOME pages to something that does not deliver CRAP, like http://www.google.com

Keep your spyware under control, since that eats bandwidth. You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

This double whammy will help keep you safe and running faster

But so-called accellerators DON'T WORK.

56k modems are going the way of the dinosaur. They only should be used in areas where cable or DSL is not available. Usually DSL is not much more, believe it or not.

With today's websites, you need something faster just to function.

forget the modem, get DSL, there is no way out of the slow conection with a modem, as low as $12.99 a month with AT&T if you order on line. not a bad deal, and drop your current Internet provider.

I f you can't get DSL or Cable then you can get satellite service.
We live way out in the boonies, even dialup doesn't work .....

It wasn't cheap $600 to buy the equipment and then $60 a month for service...
