When WinMX was still around I used to check out other peoples' music and discovered quite a few international artists like Utada Hikaru and Eros Ramazotti. If I wasn't able to do that I wouldn't have heard of these singers. The big record companies have shot themselves in the foot as far as I'm concerned. I bought an album by Utada Hikaru because of WinMX and I'm sure others did the same. Music is the international language of all people. We all understand it at one level or another whether we understand the words or not. Pity the record companies are only looking for the fast buck and sure profits and are more concerned with protecting their own territories rather than promoting real talent wherever they may come from. Don't get me started with radio stations and "playlists"! UGH!

a C minor always be a C minor here and in Russia, no matter the languages but the music is the real worldwide language. It's not strange you enjoy japanese music but an open mind and ears to listen and enjoy foreign cultures through their music.

It's not strange at all. I was searching and listening to some of it myself recently, and I was looking for a CD. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any English websites with Japanese music CDs.

Not strange at all. I like music sung in heaps of different languages (french, german, spanish, japanese etc.). I know heaps of people do as well.
You're exposing yourself to another culture on earth, and that in itself is a good thing.

It's not strange. I love music from India even though I don't have a clue as to what they are saying.

I don't think it is strange at all. I like some stuff that I don't understand the words to either, it evokes a feeling and that is what matters.

I've been listening to music in languages that I don't speak fluently for as long as I can remember. You are truly not alone.
