If not then what gives anyone the right to tell a woman whether or not she can have an abortion or not. An abortion is a MEDICAL PROCEDURE that should be discussed only btwn patient and doctor.
I am AGAINST abortion and would NEVER get one, but I would NEVER want anyone to go thru my medical records and dictate to me what i should or should not do with myself. It is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. I am AGAINST abortion but I AM PRO CHOICE because i am not here to judge. ONLY GOD judges.

lordkelv - there are a myriad of medical reasons why a woman should get abortion. so AGAIN it is a medical procedure.

and yes, people judge all the time but you can only judge under the context of your own perception. if you see a woman in an abortion clinic how would u know why she was having an abortion unless you knew her intimately or looked thru her records?

I agree with you. But to respond to those that are wanting to go around that:

No one will stop abortion by making it illegal. All that will happen is the government will no longer regulate it. No regulation means that anyone with a cot and a coat hanger can perform an abortion. So now, instead of having one "death", there will be two - the mother and the fetus. So if one would like to get technical, people that are fighting for abortion to be illegal are going to commit more murders than the doctors performing it.

It is crazy to think that anyone can tell another what to do with their body. Men can not be forced to father a child or to have a vasectomy, so how can anyone force a woman to be pregnant? It is all very backwards in thought.

If you are against abortion, then don't have one. Don't support causes that give their money to abortion rights, and don't do anything to condone the act of abortion. Educate our nation's people on contrecetion and sex ed, as well as what happens during an abortion and the risks to the mother in having one. But just telling others that because YOU don't like it then it should be illegal is like me stating that I don't like people against abortion, so THEY should be silenced. Neither is right.

NO.. NEVER

Well, I searched my copy of the Constitution of the United States and I couldn't find the word privacy anywhere in the document. Does this mean we have no right to privacy?

I also searched the Constitution and I couldn't find the word marriage either. Does that mean I don't have a right to be married — that a so-called "right to marriage" was invented by some bleeding-heart liberal judge somewhere?

The Constitution also doesn't include the right to buy products from foreigners, or to have children, or to read a book, or even to eat food to survive.

How could the Constitution have overlooked such basic human rights?

Because the Constitution isn't about what PEOPLE can do; it's about what GOVERNMENT can do.

The Constitution was created to spell out the limited rights or powers given to the federal government. And it was clearly understood that the government had no powers that weren't authorized in the Constitution.

So no, they do not have the right, nor is it right, to look through your personal medical records. PERIOD

i don't think med records should be anyone's business, but...

by the logic that you're against abortion morally but pro-choice becuase God needs to judge - i can be against killing, stealing, raping, torturing, slavery and genocide... and still be in favor of others doing it so long as its under the guise of privacy.

God's decision, if you believe in one, was that we be free to choose. some of choose that civil society be enforced on everyone.

edit: i actually did answer the question, but in response to these sentiments:

"No regulation means that anyone with a cot and a coat hanger can perform an abortion...instead of having one "death", there will be two - the mother and the fetus."... so you're admitting that their is death involved in an abortion in the first place.

"people that are fighting for abortion to be illegal are going to commit more murders than the doctors performing it."... over 65million abortions since roe in america alone; i'd prefer women to choose safe/responsible sex; if not there's adoption. abortiion is not the only option.

"It is crazy to think that anyone can tell another what to do with their body. Men can not be forced to father a child or to have a vasectomy, so how can anyone force a woman to be pregnant?"...
1-its not so crazy, we force people all the time not to do things with their bodies, if/when their bodies are harming other bodies, as is the case w/ abortion when a body (unborn child) is destroyed by another body (pregnant mother).
2-women are only 'forced' to become pregnant in case of rape; otherwise (in most cases) they become pregnant by having unprotected sex - the only thing women would be forced to do is not destroy their unborn children.
3-also, vasectomy v. abortion are entirely different. women can also have vasectomies, and certainly no one is being forced to have them. obviously men can't become pregnant, thus there is no proper analogy. but there's no point to the argument that men can't have an opinion simply because they can't be restricted from doing something that they are biologically incapable of doing... women, for the most part anyway, can't rape men. that doesn't mean they can't have an opinion about it.

"If you are against abortion, then don't have one. Don't support causes that give their money to abortion rights, and don't do anything to condone the act of abortion."... I can do all of these things and still insist that others shouldn't have abortions; just like not owning a slave and arguing that others shouldn't either.

"because YOU don't like it then it should be illegal is like me stating that I don't like people against abortion, so THEY should be silenced."... no it's not the same. I'm arguing against a violation of the basic human right to life; if you wanted to silence my opinion, you would be arguing against my basic human right of free expression. btw, its not so much that I don't like them, as the unborn children who are sucked out of tubes before they have a chance to breathe.

i had a friend who became pregnant recently and she told me that the first thing she did after thinking about an abortion was look to see if she could find a single case of a woman who had an abortion and lived a happy life afterward. all she found was sadness, cyclical depression and remorse. abortion takes more than one life already. im now the godfather of a beatiful baby girl.

Personally, I feel it is wrong for anyone to see your medical records without your consent. As a matter of fact, it is against the law for anyone to go through your medical records without signed documentation of your approval.

Back in the "old days", which really wasn't that long ago, men use to have access to there wives medical records. As a matter of fact, a woman could not get certain health procedures without their husbands consent. (i.e. tubes tied).

That has all changed now. Woman actually have rights to their bodies and their minds.

Take Care

If you are getting medical coverage from any Government Health plans they can look in your medical records ,but under the privacy act they cannot share that information with anyone without your written or verbal permission.

The Hipa law is supposed to keep others out of your records, unfortunately; the way it was written, once you authorize anyone to view it, you also lose any control over who can view it.
As to abortion; this is another example of religious influence in government. Historically, religion has always tried to impose it's beliefs on all people. This country was founded to escape religious persecution, which still took decades of legislation to escape. We have been falling backward in the last 20 years. Hopefully, someday we will again move forward. Unfortunately, religion gives power to men, and power corrupts!

Wrong reasoning.... the procedure can be made unlawful and then the doctor could be prosecuted for preforming it.
Second argument is stupid also.... We judge all the time. For example, you can not just shoot someone because they offend you. So that "Judge not" is a bogus argument.
