It is on various governments around the world(democracy, communism, anarchy, etc.). I was absent the day it was told to the class so i was left with the last remaining goverment and that was "dictatorship". So the point of the project is to make a poster showing why dictatorship is the best form of goverment over all the rest. I have searched the internet through yahoo and google and came up with only BAD things about dictatorships. So if anyone has any urls to sites that have useful things promoting Dictatorship as a good government then please post them here or if anyone knows of any thoughts of why it is a better form of goverment TELL ME PLEASE!

Thanks

You don't have to play politics, if something needs to be done, you do it.

A nation's citizens don't always know what is best for a their country and if a leader has to answer to his citizens on every decision, a lot wouldn't get done. A person is smart, people are stupid.

When lines of communication are slow or nonexistent, a dictatorship is the most efficient form of government.

In times of crisis one leader, who doesn't have to worry about being voted out of office, is more effective.

In a dictatorship, as opposed to a monarchy, a person can rise to power based on merits, not by blood.

Communism discourages innovation and the growth of an economy. When the people don't stand to gain anything, they are not motivated to go above and beyond. A dictatorship can have free trade, whereas communism can't.

Democracies and republics, while a great idea (at least republics, with democracies you get a tryanny of the majority) but inefficient most of the time.

Wikipedia has some good background information. It seems there was a time when a dictatorship may have actually been a reasonable form of government.

As I was reading through the wiki, it occurred to me that this is the kind of leadership that might be useful in transitioning a country from civil war and complete anarchy into something with structure and protocol. But to be sustainable, I suppose the dictator would have to demonstrate some form of conscience and perhaps be guided in his/her choices by a belief system (religion).

Now, here's an idea.. my mom was kind of like a dictator. What she said was the law (not that I didn't try to get away with stuff), but on the plus side, if there was something my friends wanted me to do that I didnt, she got me off the hook. She took care of my needs, and managed to get me to adulthood (where I staged a rebellion and ousted her from power, making myself the Princess of all I survey).

Good luck with your assignment... and if you were absent due to illness, I hope you're feeling better!
