With as much time as we spend on our jobs, it is important we like the work we do. Good for you for being honest with yourself and true to your values. My next door neighbor is a pharmacist and seems to enjoy the work he does. It is okay to change directions and follow your dreams.
Hope my mothers blog might be of some encouragement that whenever you feel that yearning is the perfect time to go to school. Talking about my mom going to college.. after her last child moved out, and the same year my father retired, my mom finished her Masters and got her first professional job ever-- but is now living her dream! Please live yours and enjoy the ride!

You are doing the right thing. Better to be at a job you enjoy in 8 years than to be at the same miserable place in 8 years. Because either way, Lord willing and the creek don't rise, you will see 8 years come and go. Be happy in whatever it is you must do for life is short. It wont be easy, but I bet you will find ways to make it work. Improving our situation is what everyone wants, only a few are willing to work for it. In the end, you will be happier pursuing something you love. GO for it. You might even qualify for some assistance. You never know until you try and there is no shame in it for you are a hard working individual who merley wishes to improve herself. I say good for you. Hang in there and stay strong.

I was online at work the other day and MSN had the Top 10 Jobs that will are secure in the future. There were doctors, janitors, teachers, and Pharmacists! If you have the drive and focus...go for it. You are young! Just imagine the status and money you will be able to make!

Instead of sticking with a job you hate, you are doing something about it. Don't look at the short term results rather focus on the future. At 27 you are still very early into your work life. It's not uncommon for people to start careers late in their life. I had an instructor who was a doctor most of his life and then he took on a career in computers.

My nephews going through this same thing. He's back in Chiropractic school. My son in law is back in school for another degree so he can make a change. It seems like a long time ( I thought Pharma was 6 years) but it will go faster than you think. I give you alot of credit for doing this. I hope things go well for you. Don't worry about the current money you're making. You probably know that soon you'll be doing very well.

I know you said you hate your job but maybe you can decrease your hours for the time being while you are in school. Then when you are more settled, find a new job, like working as a pharmacy technician. Good luck and don't give up hope. You can do it:)

You are not alone. Things are very difficult now in Singapore; with pay cut and everything else rising. In the ST today, transport rise. They are making profit as it is but still want to increase. Why? Only 1 answer - they do not care. However, we still have to move on and never say die. The moment you stop trying; that is when you have actually failed in live. Just remember again, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

It's better to be a little tight in money than to be stuck in a job that you hate. You'll do fine if you can pay the bills and not be totally destitute. Just keep working on your pharm. program and you'll be out of it sooner with a better job. Good luck.

Go for it! I've lost two jobs in my life (companies went out of business after I was there 10 and 11 years) and I got a job a few months ago making more money, and now I love my job!

I would rather do the things that I love... never want to drag my feet to works everyday! And it is what I am doing now.. No matter the paycut as long as I am happy...!
