When someone says "trust me" it means that in their mind they believe you have good reason NOT to trust them. So by their very words they give themselves away.

No.. there are a HUGE number of brain numbed adolescents out there. You could try educating yourself on world history, concentrating on Middle Eastern history. And, if you had ever paid attention, you would find that Bush never said that. And, in fact, has done a fair job of explaining what we are doing and why. That would require that you exercise more than your usual 2 or 3 brain cells. But I have my doubts that will ever happen.

The world is tired of him going on international TV and saying that very same thing.

You're not. How about "Stay the course"? Sometimes I could scream. Yeah, I use the mute button but I can read his lips. Now I just close my eyes or switch the channel.

I specifically remember him saying that about domestic spying... and vaguely recall it in a few other instances...

but, I said it when I first saw it... usually, when someone says "trust me"... it really means "please look away while I screw you, because I can't really tell you the truth without you getting mad about it"...

A president shouldn't have to say "trust us"... he should have enough evidence to convince us that he is right...

anyone that trusts any politician is beyond naive... Republican, Democrat or other...

So you want to announce to the whole world (including the enemy) what our plans are. The amazing thing is that you think that President Bush is stupid. Have you considered for a moment the stupidity of what your asking him to do? /me shakes head in disbelief

By now I imagine his own family is tired of hearing him say that (well, they've probably been listening a lot longer).
