it always saddens me when I see a thumbs down. my lip starts to quiver and I cover my eyes with one hand and run out the door crying my eyes out.

It did in the beginning, but not anymore. We all get them. It's OK if someone disagrees with my opinion - we're all entitled to our opinions, to agree or disagree - and a lot of times I disagree with other people's opinions. That's not a problem, if people are being serious about it. Also, this forum is pretty one-sided - it's not a chat room, so we can't explain or defend our opinion and a lot of what we are trying to say can be misinterpreted.
The problem I used to have is that some people give a thumbs dumbs down just for the fun of it. It would have nothing to do with a particular question or particular answer; these people don't take any of the questions, or answers, seriously. They're just "playing".
So, just do your best and don't let those thumbs down bother you so much, take it in your stride and not to heart. Enjoy the experience and don't dwell on the negative stuff.

Can't take these votes too personally. Everything is just a matter of opinion, and everyone has one. What I think is lame is the negative, vicious guy that just goes around and attacks every post that he deems not an important question or which has words spelled incorrectly. A few folks just specialize in sarcasm and their ignorance definitely shows. Don;t let it get you down!

No. I like when people give my questions or answers the thumbs down. I don't care if people like or dislike what I have to ask or say.
Usually in a situation like this I'd give your question a thumbs down but seeing as I'm in a good mood this evening, I'll give it a thumbs up....Now quit sobbing.

Take a deep breath and think about what you are saying. The rating you get is only peoples' opinions!!! Everyone has one. The only thing that matters is that you asked the question. You learned something and you probably taught someone too!

haha. No, but it pisses me off when it's a normal answer (in politics) and people just don't like you so they give you a thumbs down. I had someone give me a thumbs down on a question about a TV show!!! I think the same person that doesn't like my politics goes through my questions and just gives thumbs down for the hell of it. lame!!!!
