About a month ago I started getting partial numbness in my fingers which also feels like needles stabbing and jolts of pain shooting through them, my doctor suggested those wrist splints for carpel tunnel but they cost 26 dollars a peice and I work in the infant room at a child care center and they are to hard to work with, if anyone has experienced this and has a solution I would be so so grateful!

Usually those tingly kinds of pains are caused by poor circulation, which usually shows up first in fingers and/or toes. Poor circulation causes lack of oxygen to extremities and when cells are oxygen starved you get pains-----a lot of pains. Taking tylenol doesn't improve circulation so that won't help. Wrist splints will further restrict circulation so that won't help. In your stage of pregnancy, I think the safest thing to try is small amounts of aspirin such as 91mg per day (St.Joseph Aspirin) (also Walgreens has these). If that helps then get 350mg aspirin and cut them in half or try one per day whole. Another thing that helps is Cayenne on your food or in capsule form, but take it easy, take no more than one per week because it can cause indigestion. And.....last but not least, get some 7up or Sierra Mist and cut up an orange, a lime, and a lemon and squeeze the juice into the drink. (Citrus is a natural way to relax and expand all your blood vessels and that means instant better circulation and pain relief.) However, you should print this out and talk all this over with your OBGYN on your next prenatal-care visit. Hope this helps and saves you money!

It could be carpal tunnel , but that can not be definately diagnosed without a nerve conduction study. It could also be casued by a nerve that your baby is pressing on, do your arms go numb too? Maybe a circulation problem. I would ask the doctor again, i for one if i were pregnant would not accept that as a sufficent answer. If he insists it is carpal tunnel, wear the wrist guards at night or when home idle.

When I was pregnant and had those problems I saw a chiropractor. YES, you can see a chiro while you are pregnant. My chiro has a special table in which the abdominal section drops down so that you dont feel pressure on your belly yet you are still supported (YES it is safe, NO it doesn't hurt.) I saw my chiro up intil the day before I had my daughter. If you have insurance that will cover it, I highly recommend it. It was the best thing I had during pregnancy!

You don't work with computers, so I really doubt it is carp tunnel. Ask for another doctor's opinion. I think it has to be either circulation, baby pressing a nerve, or gestational diabetes. Have you put on a lot of weight?

Have you checked for diabetes. Gestational diabetes may be the cause. Get your blood sugar checked.
