I know very few 14 year old people who are mature enough and wise enough to make decisions regarding finances, marriage, and other very important issues that can affect them for the rest of their life.

I suspect some European countries allow 16 because that is the age they graduate from school and as such they need to be able to work have checking accounts etc. But I still feel that is too young to be "legally of age" where it comes to marriage and even to joining the armed forces.

Maybe I'm "old fashioned" but I saw guys at 19 & 20 who were emotionally too young to be in the armed forces, but there they were back in the "good old days" when the US had a draft for the Vietnam mess.

I have to stick with 18. That seems fair to the average young person. It helps protect them from making mistakes while they are too young and allows them some freedoms and privileges of adults.

Although the legal age to consume alcohol is 21. But that is intended to prevent 18 year olds from buying it and handing it to 16 and under.

There should be no legal age, the government has no business in this department. It isn't good for junior high students to have sex, but it is worse for someone to arrest or charge them for it. This is a free country

No i think 16 is a reasonable age,
In Australia.. You have to be 16 to have sex..
But it varies in each state..
Teenagers mature at different stages and ages in their lives..

I think 65 is a good age.
It really depends on the people involved.
Some may be ready at 14, some NEVER are.
