I always thought they stop play when it rains, but it seems they only do that when it really, really pours. I have been watching the Detroit-Texas game and its been raining the whole game, not just drizzle.

I think there are too many games on the schedule to stop because of rain now. Also for the people that bought tickets that may be the only time they can go.

The complete answer is a combination of 2 of the above answers plus the biggest factor $$$.

After 51/2 innings the contest is counted as a complete game. The game then is postponed, usually for over an hour, depending on the umpire crew. No owner wants an extra game without being able to collect some money. If there are no future days that are common off days, a double hitter would be scheduled. Combining the game with another for a double hitter poses a similar problem but now there will be 2 sets of fans with tickets for the same day. If the delayed game is at the end of the year and neither team is playoff bound, the game won't be rescheduled. Usually the fan gets a free ticket for next year if it goes less than 51/2 innings. If longer...it's a complete game.

If it sprinkling, baseball video games are nonetheless taking part in. If it rains somewhat, baseball video games are nonetheless taking part in. If it rains plenty, then the baseball game is not on time. and that they are going to wait until eventually it stops or in the little leagues they are going to easily cancel it. If this is not raining in any respect or if its raining somewhat and if theres lightning then the game is not on time. If it takes too long to end raining then its cancel and that they are going to ought to reschedule it.

they usual dont but on rare occasions when they cant make up a game they might try to get the game in as an offical game by playing at least 5 innings if the forcast is not good the game may go on so they dont have to make it up at the end of season if it has a bearing on the standings

No. Though there are several reason, one of the most important is based on the ball itself. You know how it is not allowed for the pitcher to apply moisture to the baseball? Well, that is because he is able to get too much spin on the ball if it is wet, allowing for unrealistic curve balls and sliders. The ball has to stay clean and dry or an Ump will replace it. You see that all the time. Good question though.
