No kidding!! We spent over $600.00 for school clothes and then we had to buy school supplies. Alway`s coming up with something for us to buy!! It`s not bad enough they have a school dress code and you have to buy certain clothes they can wear. Cost a fortune!!! My kids just brought home that fundraiser the other day and I couldn`t believe it!! The schools here are trying to compete with the schools in West Palm Beach,Fl. It`s a joke!! Everytime I talk to a taecher or someone from the school they say ( Well in West Palm they do it this way!!) What a joke!! There more worried about fashion than educating students!! Get referals if they go to school with there shirt not tucked in there pants properly!! And won`t allow certain clothing because they say it`s Gang Related!!!

The kids get so much pressure from their school. I hate the whole thing. My son is in 6th grade now, has only ever been on one field trip, and I just had to pay 8.00 for a crapy dollar store lock for his locker at his new junior high cos it was school approved. Where does all that fundraising money go??

Yes,I hated it.You always feel oligated to buy something, not only from your own children, but from others as well.Who can afford to buy that much candy, gift wrap,or whatever else they sell, especially if you have more than 2 children having a fundraiser at the same time, and you have to buy the same cash amount from each child to keep the peace?

The kid across the street came buy with a catalog a few days ago and today my two sons came in with Entertinment Books to sell. Who knows what my 2 year olds preschool will have us sell! And don't forget about those Boy Scout popcorn sales.
Too bad I don't have a girl...I could live on Girl Scout cookies!!!

I know and I use to buy things I never used or ate. Now I don't do it. I don't buy a thing....I return it or return the little book. When they were small and cried for the prize which was something cheaply made. I would just give them 10 bucks or take them shopping instead. Now they know not to even ask. I will sell and buy candy bars but that's it.

Yes, but those candy bars are so yummy.
My nieces' school allow the parents to opt out of having to do those fundraisers. All the kids want to do them though, 'cause they promise such fabulous things like pizza and crappy prizes.

Yeah, I'm a student and I don't even bring those stupid money raising envelopes home. My mom has a hard enough time paying for the over priced locker rentals. Not to mention the locker COMBINATION rentals. (You arent allowed to buy your own combination, or they'll cut it off. So much for that plan.)

its even worse for those who get hit up for it. It's jerky, or fruit, or knick knacks, and I don't know about everyone else, but i feel bad, and feel the need to order from everyone. I remember what it was like in school, the teachers hounding you to get out there and raise money for the clubs and groups and stuff.

September is worse than Christmas. Everyone, everywhere is fundraising - it is awful.
