Long Black Train means don't get sucked into a life of sin and get carted off to Hell. Did you watch the video? All of the people who didn't repent got evaporated when the train came to get their soul. I don't personally agree with that, but Josh Turner is a very scrumptious looking man, so maybe I could overlook the Baptist thing. ??? j/k :)

I researched it and I found a website where he claims to have written the song himself. "I sang a song I wrote, called 'Long Black Train,'" remembers Josh, who still gets teary-eyed at the memory. As far as I can see, he is the first one to sing it. To me I believe the song is trying to get people to accept the Lord and Jesus, and look at for the Devil. Don't give in to temptations and give up on life. Email me at jackl_1988@hotmail.com if you have further questions.

It has religious overtones to it. I think the long black train signifies the devil or something. I love that song, though! Yes, he is a Christian.
