In addition to what others have said, there are organisms which live within your mouth.

Also, equipment that dentists can be considered scientific as they are based in engineering principles. Operated via electricity, using speed and pressure, etc.

well for starters you need to know which chemicals you are using on patients. Which drugs to prescribe , how they works etc etc. Also biology about the nerves, very important, in root canals.
